At Bowerham Primary & Nursery School & Baby Unit, we believe it is important for ALL children to have a voice and know that their views and opinions count.

Our school council is led by Mrs Hemingway:

We aim to serve as a bridge between our peers, the staff here at Bowerham, and the wider school community. We aim to foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging school environment where every voice is heard and respected. By promoting collaboration, advocating for pupils needs, and by supporting school initiatives, we strive to empower our peers to enhance the overall educational experience for all.

We have been busy with the following missions:

  • Lesson observations
  • Litter picking
  • Promoting the use of the Food Bank buckets – we have designed new labels for these.
  • We have led our own school club – Mindfulness colouring club.
  • Completed school assemblies

We aim to:

  • Ensure that every teaching and year group has been observed.
  • Conduct another litter pick, with the help of Bob, our site supervisor.
  • Visit a local food bank.
  • Support with bag packing at a local supermarket.
  • Invited a first aid trainer to come and do some basic first aid with us, so that we might be able to help on play ground duty.
  • Write letters to people in the community.

A message from school council:

“We feel very proud to be part of the movement in school. We want to ensure that each child can STAND TALL, REACH HIGH AND LOVE LEARNING. We are the voice for our peers, so we must listen and we must be listened too!”
