The Eco warriors have been working hard to create an action plan and have decided on the three topics they would like to focus on.
These are: Litter, The School Grounds and Healthy Living
On May 2nd, the Eco Council went to the Lancaster University Eco Hub.
We learnt about healthy living, healthy food, food sustainability and recycling especially the impact of plastic on our environment.
Healthy Living, Food and Sustainability
We loved the idea of growing our own herbs and in turn supplying the school kitchen with our wonderful harvest! Once the greenhouse is completely finished; we will all be getting green fingers!
Recycling/ Plastic Impact
The Eco council have already bought recycling bins for the school playgrounds, are still collecting crisp packets and are currently writing to our school suppliers asking
them to swap plastic straws for paper ones!
We already recycle batteries, paper. uniform, plastic bottles and cartridges! If you have any at home – bring them in!
Litter and School Grounds
Litter Pickers
We have recently been awarded 16 litter pickers from the council so that we can ensure our school is litter free. We will also be using these in our local community so that our wider environment is also able to be enjoyed litter free! Thanks Public Realm!
Another project where you can help!
In conjunction with the Bowerham Rota Kids we are collecting Daffodil bulbs! Do you have a few spare? Maybe some old pots? We want to plant the daffodils, sell them and the money raised donate to Marie Curie. If you can help in any way please phone school on 01524 63999 – thank you.
